FooPlug: installing the operating system

To install Debian Squeeze, follow these instructions.

A note on connecting to the plug. On Fedora 13 we found that the command to connect was:

su -c "screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200"

Note the requirement that the command be run as root, and the different serial port. The ttyUSB number may vary depending on how many USB devices you have plugged in.

  • After you type "reset", don't forget to press a key to interupt booting again.

  • The disk partition layout confirmation screen defaults to "No", so use the arrow keys to choose "Yes" before pressing return to go to the next screen.

  • Make sure you choose the Web Server software package

Now we have our own plug computer running a web server, let's install GNU social.
